The Italian People’s Bakery has served Trenton and surrounding communities with the freshest and most delicious bread and bakery products for over 75 years. The self-styled “Pride of Chambersburg” was started by Italian immigrant Pasquale Gervasio in 1936 with a single brick oven. He ran the bakery with help from his wife and five children. Pasquale’s bread became famous beyond Chambersburg.

Over the years, the small retail store business grew and expanded. The family’s second generation — Theresa, Phyllis, Frank, Johnny and Victor – built the business into a successful wholesale-retail bakery business. Pastry and deli items were added. Today, Pasquale’s grandson, Carmen Guagliardo, and great-grandson Matthew, head the business which uses 45,000 pounds of flour and produces 27,000 dozen rolls and 67,500 loaves a week. Italian People’s Bakery serves over 450 supermarkets, restaurants and organizations daily in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has numerous retail outlets.

Bread baked fresh several times a day has kept customers coming to the Chambersburg location decades.
