Friday at 6:00 p.m., Roebling Lofts continues its monthly “1st Friday Solo Exhibit” series with the opening of a stunning presentation of work by Jazmyn Jones. “Join me on December 6th,” said Jones. “You’ll see an array of my signature ‘Trees,’ starting with Tree Goddess ‘Aurelia.’ I’ll also be giving a brief talk on why I’m so inspired by trees and that my creativity goes ‘Beyond the Roots.’ Remember, if a tree speaks to you, take it home!”

Although Jones paints a variety of ideas and subjects, the exhibit is focused on her depictions of trees, from roots to high branches, and by extension, to include 2 three-dimensional framed painting-sculptures with lots of branches, twigs and paper. In contrast to the deep, engaging character of her tree works, these creations seem lively and playful.

As a somewhat new artist in the Trenton scene, Jones introduces herself in a very personal but professional manner.

“As an introvert with Bi-Polar disorder, I courageously wish to bring you along this journey, as I come out of my shell and share with the world how I see life, love, happiness and sorrow through my works of art. My husband always says that there’s no wrong way to create art as it is a form of personal expression and no one can tell you how to feel,” Jones explained. “Such a beautiful statement coming from the person whose support has been a driving force in allowing me to open up and become confident in my creative abilities. Unfortunately, my condition blocked his endearment for a while, until recently when I started selling my work and feeling the emotional expressions from the actual buyers themselves. Such an overwhelming feeling it is to make an impact on another persons life through my personal feelings relayed on a canvas.”
