As we enter the cold month of December, local restaurant, the Big Easy, is finding different ways to keep the youths in the city of Trenton warm and cheery throughout the season.

Last Saturday, December 12, 2020, The Big Easy gave away brand new, free coats to children in the community 14 years old and under. Between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., children who were accompanied by an adult had the opportunity to brows a large selection of winter coats and jackets that the restaurant collected for donation.

Just the week prior, Big Easy owner, Olugbala Sababu told Peterson’s Breaking News of Trenton that they gave away about 200 coats. The success inspired the restaurant to hold another coat give away last Saturday.

The Big Easy restaurant is a part of the Trenton Eat Local Club. The group, which includes a number of local restaurants, such as 1911 Smokehouse BBQ, is doing all they can to support the local community during the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the harsher months of the winter.

In addition to the coat giveaway, Big Easy is also donating books to children of Trenton and offering a free meal to ensure no child goes hungry this holiday season. Sababu said, “Every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, we feed children 14 and under free.”

To visit the Big Easy, stop by 111 South Warren Street.
