Attention all students! If you’re looking for a fun and hands-on way to spend the summer, the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make your mark during the summer season.

The Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program is a four-week program designed to give rising 10th graders meaningful workforce training, incredible networking opportunities, and valuable education and enrichment. The program will begin on July 5th and conclude on July 27th. Participating students are required to participate 26 hours per week, and will be eligible to receive a $1,350 stipend at the conclusion of the program. Please note that only Trenton residents are eligible to apply. As a participating in the youth employment program, students will have unparalleled access to guest speakers and instructors who will guide participants through the ins and outs of professional development. Over the course of the program, students will have a chance to learn about a wide variety of crucial workforce skills including:

  • Shaping a professional image and developing a stand-out resume
  • Teamwork and healthy relationships
  • Workplace professionalism and networking
  • Public speaking and interviewing skills

Students will have the opportunity to hear from and experience employment opportunities throughout a variety of industries. This is a wonderful way to get youth thinking about what paths they may want to pursue in the future, and begin laying the groundwork for a prosperous career ahead. Students will also be exposed to a number of valuable life skills, including financial literacy, job search strategies, developing highly sought after soft skills, and more. By the conclusion of the summer, students will be prepared to confidently move forward towards the career of their dreams.

If you’re an employer who wants to be a part in providing opportunity to the city’s next generation, you are in luck! As a participating employer, organizations will have the opportunity to help youth prepare for the workforce. In exchange, your organization will have a dedicated intern on-site for six weeks to lend a hand, offering key insights from a youth perspective as well as social media experience.
