January is well underway, and many of us are settling into our New Year’s resolutions. At the beginning of the year, motivation is high, and many are enthused at the prospect of these brand-new goals. However, as the year progresses and new habits become commonplace, it is easy to abandon these goals and fall back into old routines. So how do we stick to the goals we set each January? The New Jersey State Library has the tools you need to make your vision a reality.

On Monday, January 23rd, the New Jersey State Library will host a webinar where guests can learn all the tips and tricks necessary to meet your New Year’s goals. The webinar will take place virtually from 12-1 pm. Any interested attendees can register online here: NJSL – Register. Dr. Arvind Bhasker, a board-certified psychiatrist at Capital Health, will host the webinar. During the workshop, attendees will learn not only how to keep their resolutions but also how to make realistic resolutions. Throughout the afternoon, Dr. Bhasker will unpack why resolutions fail and what you can do to ensure that doesn’t happen this year.

Dr. Bhasker has worked as a Capital Health psychiatrist for over eight years in Bordentown, NJ. In his practice, he enjoys working with patients in an outpatient setting. In addition, Dr. Bhasker is also trained in TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), an FDA-approved non-medicine treatment to help patients with severe depression. With many years of expertise under his belt, his tips and tricks will leave you feeling ready to tackle even the most daunting of goals. He hopes that by the end of the webinar, guests will leave with a better understanding of how to set goals and make them achievable.

If in previous years, you’ve set goals at the beginning of January just to have forgotten them a couple of months later, you are certainly not alone. According to U.S. News and World Report, the failure rate for New Year’s resolutions is approximately 80%. Although many factors play into why resolutions fail, much comes down to self-discipline. When achieving a new goal, achieving it can quickly become a source of stress for many individuals. However, biking achievable goals with a pragmatic mindset makes you much more likely to see success in your resolutions. With every small victory, you are one step closer to becoming the person you’ve set out to be.

If you’re ready to make 2023 your year, please register for this beautiful event. Also, if you have any questions before the talk, please get in touch with the New Jersey State Library at (609) 278-2640 for additional details. No matter your resolution, big or small, having the toolkit to tackle your goals will leave you feeling accomplished throughout the year.
