Get ready to kick back and reLAX!
The Professional Box Lacrosse Association (PBLA) recently announced that a new team, the Trenton Terror, will be coming to town. The reign of terror kicks off on December 30th, 2022, when the Terror will play their first match-up against the New England Chowderheads.
The Professional Box Lacrosse Association will be kicking off its inaugural season this year, featuring 9 teams scattered across the east coast. The league consists of the following teams:
- Trenton Terror (the best team in our humble opinion!)
- Binghamton Bombers
- Charlotte Bootleggers
- Elmira Renegades
- Hampton Hammerheads
- Jim Thorpe All-Americans
- New England Chowderheads
- Salem Mayhem
- Syracuse Spark
From picking the locations to naming the teams, the PBLA has committed to bringing the fans along for every step of the journey. This is done to make lacrosse more widely accessible and take the sport to new heights. The League is headed by Commissioner Steve Donner, who brings 27 years of experience to the table. He has served as the marketing director for the Buffalo Sabres (NHL), the President and CEO of the Rochester Knighthawks (NLL), and now he and his team are combining their expertise to bring the next great league to the sports world.
Studies show that lacrosse has been significantly increasing in popularity for the better part of the last decade. As the sport experiences exponential participation, more and more young people are flocking to lacrosse versus other sports. According to US Lacrosse, lacrosse participation increased by 226% between 2010 and 2017. Now, the PBLA is here to bring the action right to your front door. The PBLA was founded to allow emerging players to play at the professional level and fill an unmet need for developing the professional league.
The Trenton Terror features a stacked roster of elite athletes, all under the guidance of Coach Luke Wiles. Luke is a 3x National Lacrosse League All-Star, touting 450 career points and a nationwide coaching career. With an expert team under his belt, fans are in for a treat during the 14 regular-season games the team will be playing.
