128 West State Café has recently embarked on its third year in business. Joe Procaccino, current owner, says that people mostly frequent the café for its “service and its coffee.” However, that does not mean that everything else isn’t worth the visit. The café offers freshly baked bread, muffins, and bagels, along with numerous breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, and fresh fruit, to name a few early morning cravings.
For lunch the café offers sandwiches, soups, and salads. The menu is always changing and the soup of the day is announced on the café’s Facebook page daily.
Joey, as the owner likes to be called, says that he has served, “everyone from Senators to cleaning employees” and adds that what he likes best about the café are the customers.
Another great plus for Café 128 is Joey’s commitment to only serving fresh food. “I get everything delivered fresh every morning; I’m not a fan of frozen.” Taking a bite into the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, a house favorite, instantly confirmed Joey’s words. When you visit Café 128, be sure to enjoy one yourself. It’s made with chicken, bacon, fresh mozzarella, arugula, tomato, and mayo on a ciabatta. You’re sure to come back for another, or two.
Joey and his crew are beyond friendly and a visit will really make your day. They are open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are conveniently located in front of the State House at 128 West State St. and provide indoor and outdoor seating.
