In the heart of Downtown Trenton, sits the BSB Gallery. The gallery was a former bank building acquired by the Trenton Downtown Association and then turned into an art gallery over time. Led by Trenton artist, C.a. Shofed, the BSB Gallery is a hub for various local artists to exhibit their work.

The Collaborators

Starting Friday November 2nd, C.a. will curate and debut his own exhibit, The Collaborators. The name “The Collaborators” definitely shows that calling it “C.a.’s exhibit” is an oxymoron as it is in fact the product of a two year collaborative effort by 13 different Trenton artists.

The Collaborators came about as Shofed invited 13 artists to take one of his pictures taken from his photography to then use as a canvas for creating a collaborative piece of art. To finish it off C.a. printed the work of art on the medium of their choice, such as metal, wood, etc.

C.a. showcases his photo on the bottom right, the work produced by a local artist behind, and the print on the bottom left.

Artwork for the current exhibit was produced by Trenton artists such as Will Kasso, Tamara Torres, and others. For a complete list of artists and to learn more about the exhibit visit https://www.bsbgallery.com/.

C.a. Shofed comes to Trenton

Shofed came to Trenton from Pennington after his wife purchased a home in the Mill Hill neighborhood after falling in love with the arts, such as Passage Theatre where she is currently a board member. He studied Advertising Design but wound up working in the Informational Technology field for close to three decades.

After taking some time off from work for medical reasons, he decided to pursue arts full time. The only issue was his wife gave him a three year trial. He realized that he needed to devote his full attention to arts, which he found a home for in Trenton. Shofed notes that Trenton’s size makes it unique and ripe for arts as

“Trenton is small enough yet big enough to grow and thrive as an artist.”

It is safe to say that close to a decade later he has succeeded. He has had exhibits throughout the tri-state region and serving as the lead curator at the exemplary BSB Gallery.

To see some of C.a. Shofed’s work and to check out The Collaborators exhibit, come to the opening reception at the BSB Gallery from 5-7pm on Friday, November 2nd. The exhibit will run through December first and be featured as a part of “Art All Day” on Saturday November 3rd.
