This long-standing event has been bringing holiday joy to Trenton for over 55 years. This year, attendees will get to enjoy approximately 20 houses decorated inside and out with eye-catching holiday décor. Guests will also get to enjoy holiday music, refreshments, and delightful conversations with homeowners, other attendees, and more. Depending on the homeowner, participants can expect dazzling decorations inside the homes as well as outdoor entertainment. The tour promises a festive afternoon of mingling and jingling as attendees saunter their way through the Old Mill Hill neighborhood.
The tour is run by the Old Mill Hill Society, a collective of friends and neighbors devoted to the “historic preservation and restoration of properties within the Mill Hill area.” The group represents the interests of the community’s many residents, property owners, and business owners. Anyone who lives works, or owns property in the neighborhood is invited to join the Society. During their monthly meetings, the Society discusses a variety of topics related to the improvement and revitalization of their community. The Society utilizes special events like the Holiday House Tour and the Garden Tour to raise funds for preservation grants that assist homeowners in maintaining the Trenton Landmarks Commission for Historic Preservation Standards.
The Mill Hill neighborhood is historic in every sense of the word, offering the surrounding communities a glimpse into the architectural stylings of the 19th century. The neighborhood’s oldest residence was completed in 1826! Located centrally between New York and Philadelphia, the neighborhood offers residents fantastic proximity to one of the world’s most competitive job markets while still having a charming, tight-knit community to call home. The neighborhood is home to individuals from all walks of life, including young couples, singles, multi-generational families, and more. However, no matter their background, the community continues to rally around Mill Hill and take great strides toward its promising future.
If you’d like to support this thriving community and enjoy some of its unique charms along the way, please consider attending this year’s Holiday House Tour. If you have any questions before the event, please contact the Old Mill Hill Society at millhillinfo@gmail.com. See you on the tour!
