Foundation Academies is bringing the classroom to the community during the FA Trenton Eat Local event starting at noon, Saturday April 27 at Royal Cakes & Cafe, 240 E. State St.
“Supporting this local business helps to stimulate the local economy by keeping money circulating within our community,” said FA CEO Sheria McRae, a Trenton native who lives in the city. “The Trenton community is where we need our Scholars to grow and thrive!”
The event offers an informal opportunity to meet school leaders, teachers, and families, and to learn more about academics and career opportunities at FA, Trenton’s K-12 public charter school serving more than 1,000 local scholars.
“We are bringing the classroom to the community,” Mrs. McRae noted. “Let’s show our children the importance of supporting local businesses and the positive impact it has.”
Royal Cakes & Cafe opened in 2020 as a cupcake shop, and expanded into a full cafe in 2023. Owners Tia Reyes and Robert Williamson appreciate the support from FA.
“We love it! It’s definitely what we want here,” Mr. Williamson said. “This event gives us a chance to show people who may not have come in before what we have to offer, and the good service we provide.”
FA is proud to be part of Trenton Eat Local, an economic development initiative supporting Trenton businesses and entrepreneurs.
“Whether we are hosting a free college and career fair like we did last week, or supporting a local business, we are proud be an active member of our community,” Mrs. McRae said. “Come hungry and bring family and friends!”
Foundation Academies is Mercer County’s only K-12 free public charter school, enrolling more than 1,000 scholars in Trenton. FA’s graduation rate exceeds the New Jersey state average; and the college acceptance rate is near 100%. FA ranks in the top third of all public schools statewide, according to the 2023 NJ Department of Education School Performance Reports.
