The Garden State is an incredible place to raise a family. With options for education, healthcare, and recreation at every corner, there’s no shortage of opportunities for Garden State parents. Whether you are just starting a family or have been a parent for years, we all could use a bit of help from time to time. If you’re looking to get connected with all the parenting resources New Jersey has to offer, you won’t want to miss this upcoming event.

Trenton families are in for a treat at the upcoming Family Festival, courtesy of First Lady Tammy Murphy’s NurtureNJ initiative. The festivities will take place on Saturday, September 23rd at Hedgepeth-Williams Intermediate School, located at 301 Gladstone Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08629. The fair will be held from 11 am to 3 pm. Over the course of the afternoon, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy music, free food, giveaways, and more. Guests of all ages are welcome, so be sure to bring the kids along for a full day of family fun. If you plan on attending, please RSVP here: Family Festival – NurtureNJ.

First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Family Festivals are designed to connect families with state, county, and local resources, offering a one-stop shop for care, support, resources, and relief. A wide variety of resources are available at the Family Festivals, including healthcare, childcare, pediatric services, food, energy and housing assistance programs, and more. Children can enjoy free food, music, activities, and more while you sign up for services, get direct answers from providers, and learn more about the programs and resources available to you.

A noteworthy resource available on-site for new and expectant moms is the NJMVC’s mobile unit, which offers services including driver’s licenses, registration, and more. To receive services from NJMVC, go to bit.ly/mvctrentonfest. MVC services will be available from 10 am-2 pm. COVID-19 vaccinations will also be available on-site.

This event is part of First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Nurture NJ initiative, which aims to make New Jersey the safest and most equitable place in the nation to deliver and raise a baby. First Lady of New Jersey Tammy Murphy officially launched Nurture NJ in early 2019 as a statewide initiative committed to ensuring equity in maternal and infant health outcomes for Black and brown women, and to reducing overall maternal and infant mortality and morbidity in the state.

The initiative has three primary objectives: 1.) Ensure all women are healthy and have access to care before pregnancy, 2.) build a safe, high-quality, equitable system of care and services for all women during prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, and 3.) ensure supportive community environments and contexts during every other period of a woman’s life so that the conditions and opportunities for health are always available.
