When it comes to unwinding from another hectic day, there’s few better places to escape than in the pages of your favorite book. Literature is a one-way ticket to an all-new world, introducing us to curious characters, delightful destinations, and awesome adventures through universes near and far. An enriching and engaging hobby for all, reading remains a wonderfully relaxing hobby for bookworms of all ages. And if you’re looking to share your love of literature with like-minded members of your own community, there’s few better places to start than at the Trenton Free Public Library’s Monthly Book Club.
Each month, the Trenton Free Public Library hosts a Book Club which invites Trenton residents to come together and connect over the month’s fascinating selection. The featured novel for this month’s gathering is “Treasure Island”, written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The meeting will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, February 27th. All meetings of the Book Club are held in the Community Room of the Trenton Free Public Library, located downtown at 120 Academy St, Trenton, NJ 08608. This meetings are free to attend, and copies of the book can be picked up the library’s reference desk. At the meeting, guests will have the opportunity to discuss their favorite parts of the book and dive deeper into this literary classic.
“Treasure Island”, penned by R.L. Stevenson, follows a shipwrecked young man along his adventure to overcome the odds. The protagonist, Jim Hawkins, is a 12-year old boy who came upon a treasure map created by a pirate, Captain Flint. Inspired by his newfound discovery, Hawkins and friends set off on an adventure to try and get their hands on this hidden treasure. When he arrives on the island, Hawkins is met by a fearsome crew of former crew members of Captain Flint, who were also on the prowl for the promised treasure. After being kidnapped by these pesky pirates, Hawkins and friends have to plan their escape while still managing to keep their treasures in hand. A gripping saga of epic proportions, guests of all ages and interests will no doubt be enchanted by this beloved classic.
