The New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) and Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area are looking for a signature logo to embody Revolution NJ, New Jersey’s initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary (or Semiquincentennial) of the United States.

The logo will be used across the state and nation to promote Revolution NJ events, projects, and programs planned to explore 250 years of United States history. The winning logo design will receive a $1,500 cash prize. The deadline for submission is 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019. The selected logo will be publicly presented during Patriots Week in Trenton, New Jersey, on Saturday, December 28, 2019.

In 2018, the New Jersey State Legislature passed legislation requiring the NJHC to establish a program for the 250th in New Jersey and granted permission to enter into a public-private agreement with a non-profit organization. Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area was selected as that partner. The two organizations are kicking off efforts this fall with the statewide logo contest in search of a design that will represent Revolution NJ.

“Through this contest, we hope to find a logo that will engage new audiences in learning about the New Jersey’s diverse history and inspire broad participation from all state residents as we plan projects and programs commemorating 250 years of the United States,” said Sara Cureton, executive director of the NJHC.

“New Jersey is a state of varied, talented artists. We can’t wait to see the visuals that can help shape the next 250 years,” said Janice Selinger, executive director of the Crossroads of the American Revolution.
