This year’s Tour de Trenton, which took place on Sunday, October 20th, was met with a perfect storm of challenging weather. While seventy (70) intrepid souls including 15 day-of-registrants faced the wind, a temperature of 53⁰F and lots of rain, by all accounts, all had a good time.
As in the past, the participants rode or strode a variety of pedal powered devices including recumbent, auto bikes, e-bikes, tall bikes, tag-a-longs, beach cruisers, 3-speeds, elliptical, spiffy road bikes, hybrids, and yard sale finds.
Covering all wards in Trenton, this year’s tour was themed “Trenton Makes” and took riders past the sites of Trenton’s manufacturing powerhouses, present and historical alike.
The ride was funded by generous local sponsors including Terracycle, Trenton Council of Civic Associations (TCCA), Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, Content Trenton, Isles, the William Trent House, Jeff Laurenti & Yuki Moore-Laurenti, Ideal Image, New Jersey Community Capital, New Jersey Manufacturers, Basecamp, Champs, Elvin Montero, Jay Watson, Powtek Frank Martucci, Ray & Kelly Ingram, Segal LaBate Realty, Trenton Makes, Willard Stanback, East Trenton Collaborative, and Tri-State Transportation Campaign.
This support allowed Trenton Cycling Revolution to offset the cost of permits, insurance and keep the ride affordable for all. It also allowed the Trenton Police Department to escort, block and sweep throughout the event.
