Foundation Collegiate Academy, the high school within Foundation Academies, Trenton’s largest and top-performing K-12 charter school, has been named as a GreatSchools 2019 College Success Award recipient.

The GreatSchools 2019 College Success Award recognizes public high schools that ensure their students are prepared for college, enroll in college, and succeed once they get there. Award-winning schools have a successful track record of graduating students who enroll in two- or four-year colleges, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year. Only 1,722 public high schools in the country have previously won this award, and Foundation Collegiate Academy proudly joins the list of New Jersey’s 100 winning schools.

“We appreciate the recognition by GreatSchools, as it is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff,” stated Melissa Campbell, Foundation Collegiate Academy Principal. “Our ultimate goal – as outlined in our mission statement – is to prepare our students for the nation’s finest colleges, and to instill in them the core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. This award by GreatSchools further validates their hard work and dedication day in and day out.”

The College Success Award is possible because New Jersey is leading the nation in sharing information on how students do after high school, which is valuable information for families, educators, and policymakers.

“Foundation Academies is providing their students with a high-quality public education that equips and empowers them with the skills to forge a path to bright futures,” said Jon Deane, CEO of GreatSchools.org. “We applaud students, parents, teachers and the entire community at Foundation for their dedication to pursuing college success.”

The New Jersey Department of Education’s 2017-18 School Performance Report recently ranked Foundation Academies in the 88th percentile for public schools statewide, which indicates that the school and students are performing better than 88% of all public schools in New Jersey. In an urban community in which approximately 85% of the district qualifies for free or reduced lunch, the mission of college may not always be a focus. At Foundation Academies, however, it is central to everything the students do.
