Any parent knows: diapers are essential, but they can certainly be costly. These and other childcare items are necessities, but when many struggle to make ends meet, it can be a hefty burden to the family budget. Thankfully, resources are available to families in the Capital City to ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.

In collaboration with The Maker’s Place of Trenton, the Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County has announced a free diaper program in the Trenton community. Every Monday from 12:30 to 2:30 pm, diapers will be distributed at 212 Centre Street, Trenton, NJ 08611. As this program is in high demand, there is a waitlist for receiving items. Once a month, enrolled families are eligible to receive the diaper distribution. If you or a family in your life is interested in joining, registration is available on the Maker’s Place website here: Register – Free Diapers. There is currently only a short waiting period to make an appointment. If you have any questions or trouble filling out the intake form, please get in touch with Maker’s Place at (609) 751-9128 for additional assistance.

In addition to the free diaper program, attendees are welcome to attend the PEBA Food Pantry at the Boys and Girls Club Centre St. Garden Pavilion. Once families have received their diapers, they are invited to stroll through the garden and pick up any groceries they may need. These programs are vital in ensuring that families in the region receive the resources they need to keep their families healthy, happy, and thriving.

The Maker’s Place is a diaper bank and Hope Center located in the heart of Trenton. During their first-ever drive, while they sought to collect 10,000 diapers for a community birthday party for one-year-olds, they ordered a whopping 100,000 diapers for little ones in the community. With this influx of resources, Maker’s Place was inspired to create its “Diaper Depot.” This flagship program now gives out thousands of diapers monthly to needy families. In addition, Maker’s Place regularly hosts community birthday parties for children and partners with local organizations, churches, and non-profits to help address Trenton’s high infant mortality rate. You can read more about their initiatives on their website here: Home – The Maker’s Place.

Much like The Maker’s Place, the Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County is another cornerstone for children in our community. BGC provides young people in Mercer County with opportunities for social enrichment and recreational activities. They seek to improve educational outcomes, develop social, emotional, and leadership skills, and ensure that time spent after school and during the summer is done in a productive and safe environment. More than 2,600 children in the community can take advantage of this fantastic programming each year.
