NJTL of Trenton, which creates opportunities for under-resourced youth through innovative tennis, education, and mentoring programs, will be hosting a fundraiser Drill & Play tennis event, “Take the 105 Challenge”, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, 9am to 3pm. (The 105 Challenge is a fun, interactive, competitive doubles drill, with zero pressure!). This exciting event is being held in conjunction with NJTL’s long-time supporter, The Trenton Country Club.

The daytime festivities include tennis drills conducted by local, well-known teaching pros, an NJTLT student tennis exhibition, a continental breakfast and buffet lunch, and an Awards ceremony. Attendees will have a chance to meet and play tennis with the NJTLT students. The 2024 Capital Cup Honoree is Stephen R. Duncan. Mr. Duncan has 37 years of experience as an educator for the Council Rock School District, including sixteen years teaching fifth grade, two years teaching second grade, and nineteen years as an Elementary Math/Technology Integration Specialist. He retired from Council Rock in 2009 and is currently an educational consultant for the NJTL of Trenton and the USTA Foundation.

All are welcome to register, whether playing tennis or attending the Awards presentation and luncheon buffet. Sponsorship opportunities are also available and much appreciated. To find out more and/or register, visit https://www.njtloftrenton.org/2024-capital-cup. The deadline for registration is May 10, 2024.

All proceeds will help NJTLT continue its mission of creating opportunities and providing academic programs and services to enhance the lives of under-resourced youth in Trenton and surrounding areas. NJTL’s flagship Cadwalader Park Junior Champions Tennis Center is one of more than 500 United States Tennis Association Foundation (USTA) national nonprofit youth development organizations. The Trenton chapter was twice named the USTA Chapter of the Year, and its original ACE (Academic Creative Engagement) program is a national model.
