The Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) of Mercer County is one of the few Trenton-based in-person summer camp programs open in June and for the summer. With so many parents in the Trenton-area community who can’t work from home and need to go to work, or back to work, child care is essential.

The program, which begins today, also provides critical summer meals to kids, many of whom depend on free school lunches during the school year. Campers will get breakfast and lunch, while non-campers in the community will receive with free summer lunch.

After four months of uneven, or interrupted, school-based educational access and programming, BGC of Mercer County’s Camp has “doubled down” to make-up for learning loss and will provide more supplemental educational activities at camp – particularly reading and writing.

Camp begins today, June 22, at both Centre and Spruce Street locations. The camp ends on Friday, July 31 at 212 Centre Street in Trenton and on Friday, September 4 at 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrence. Spruce Street Club serves ages 5-15 and Centre Street Club welcomes ages 5-10.

The curriculum includes Fine Arts & Crafts, STEM, Nutrition/Tasting, Academic Support (literacy/writing), and Social Emotional Learning/Character development, along with weekly theme and exercise activities.
