Every day, our lives are the sum of our choices. In fact, research notes that the average person makes approximately 35,000 decisions every single day. From what to wear to how we spend our leisure time, these small moments make up the sums of our lives. When we make it a point to make the right choices, we set ourselves up for success both in our daily lives and in our long term plans. By prioritizing our health, wellness, and success in the small decisions, we are planting the seeds which will ultimately blossom into an abundant state of being. And investing time in Trenton’s youth? Well, that’s always the right choice!
This past Monday, a number of youth from Trenton Ninth Grade Academy had the opportunity to participate in the Heathy Relationships Healthy Choices Leadership Program’s “Making Health Choices” in-school leadership seminar. At the session, students had the distinct pleasure of hearing a motivation speech from Darren “Freedom” Green, a Trenton-based leader and community advocate. During his words of wisdom, Mr. Green themed his speech on the power of purpose and how to take appropriate action in order to reach one’s goals. Students also had the chance to hear from the Isles Street Team, who shared more about their community-building work and walked the boys through the sorts of after-school enrichment and resources available to them. With the knowledge that 9th grade was the pathway to their future, this informative afternoon will no doubt set these young scholars up for success in the months and years to come.
